Lockout coming to an end?

“The issue about litigation is that there is no end. That’s why I don’t believe that’s ultimately going to resolve the issue. There is always the ‘search for leverage.’ At some point that has to end and you have to negotiate. That’s where we are. It’s time to negotiate. It’s time to reach an agreement. And we have a period of uncertainty. That’s a good thing so let’s take advantage of that and get something done.” – Roger Goodell

Soriano to miss 6-8 weeks

Rafael Soriano, the N.Y. Yankees‘ big off-season addition, and set up man to Mariano Rivera, will be out several weeks with an inflamed ligament in his elbow. Good news for the Yankees‘ is that Soriano will not need season ending Tommy John Surgery . If Soriano heals like everything is planned, his return will be around the All-Star break.

Injuries is exactly what the NY Knicks could not have happen in this 1st round match-up vs. the Boston Celtics. The NY Knicks injuries just keep piling up at the wrong time. In game 1 Chauncey Billups the NY Knicks veteran point guard injured his left knee, and Amar’e Stoudemire, the Knicks All-Star power foward, injured his back during game 2. Billups’ MRI came back with a strained tendon in his knee, and Stoudemire’s MRI came back with a pulled muscle. Mike D’Antoni said that he is optimistic that Amar’e will play but no so much Billups. Both players are listed as questionable and will be game time decisions. The latest injury report comes from yesterday at practice, Bill Walker, a key bench player for the NY Knicks, hurt his left hand on the rim while trying to block a shot. He report has been made on the status of Walker.

Dwight Howard, the Orlando Magic star, is part of the big free agent class of 2012. The big question is, will Dwight Howard re- sign with the Magic or take his talents some where else. Ric Bucher, an NBA insider was asked questions regarding Dwight Howard’s future, and what teams he has interest in. Bucher repiled by saying,”from all I hear, Dwight is looking at LA or NJ. Nothing in between.” Bucher also said, “I would expect a Dwight trade this summer or before the next season starts, from what I’m hearing”, in reply to another question. I could certainly see Dwight having a strong interest in the Nets. What is there not to like ; A great point guard, some good young talent, and they are moving to a new city. Without question though, the Nets would have to give up a ton of players. Brook Lopez the Nets young center in my mind will definitely be gone, but I will take Dwight Howard any day of the week.

Phil Hughes Headed To The DL

Posted: April 16, 2011 in Uncategorized

After a horrible start to the season, for the NY Yankees pitcher, Phil Hughes, it just got worse. Hughes is now headed to the DL. The Yankees have diagnosed no real injury to Phil Hughes, but there are reports out there that he has a “tired arm”. Hughes ERA this year has been a terrible 13.94. There were rumors out there that he might be sent down to AAA but that is not happening as of right now. This is good for Hughes to re-settle himself, rest his arm, and just clear his mind. The big question will be when Hughes returns will it be in the bullpen, or will he remain a starting pitcher?

The NY Jets have a lot of thinking to do, and moves to make this off-season, and one of them involves WR Braylon Edwards. The 7th year WR is a free agent this off-season and was on a radio talk show in Detroit, and this is what he had to say. “I wouldn’t mind ending up back with the Jets. I think we have a good chemistry and a good rapport and we’re building on something. I’m tired of things changing. With Cleveland it was always changing and even to get to the Jets it was ever changing, but now I see us having something and developing something and I would like to be a part of it. If it doesn’t go that way it’s football, it’s life, and things happen. Just a good situation. Just a situation where I don’t have to start from scratch like the Buffalo Bills or something.” I see Braylon’s point, and I would like to have Braylon back. Braylon made many big plays last year, and stepped up after being criticized for all his dropped passes. I don’t believe the Jets are going to sign both Braylon and Santonio back, and I believe that Braylon would prefer the money over a winning team, that’s just my opinion.
